Films

Because this was my first time shooting photographs on 35mm, I decided to use this as an opportunity for an abstract film that contrasted the film and digital formats. I also tried to embrace a much looser style with the shooting and editing, allowing the images to speak for themselves in a less calculated fashion. I really enjoyed the process of taking 35mm photographs and would love to shoot video on film eventually.

This was the film I helped make as part of my Senior Projects class. On this project, every group member was assigned a role and we spent the entire semester on creating one film. I was the director of photography. This was the most fulfilling and educational project I made in college for how much it emulated the true filmmaking process.

This is the first film I made entirely on my own. Because of this, I structured it less as a narrative film and more as a filmmaking exercise to test myself. It attempts to provide a sensory experience of a reclusive student. I wrote, storyboarded, casted, directed, shot, and edited it. This was also the first time I worked with a composer. I found the project fairly overwhelming, and it has taught me the value of working with a team.

This was my final project for my cinematography class in which we were given free rein to make whatever we wanted. It tells the story of a sentient orange looking for its family. I made it because I was always interested in making a film about inanimate objects. It taught me how to convey a narrative and emotion without dialogue by using taking advantage of the cinematography and music.

This film was made for an assignment for my cinematography class to demonstrate low-key lighting. It is a simple scene of a student sneaking into a classroom. Through this project, I learned to create a sense of geography and tension through shots that could be otherwise mundane.

This was my first documentary film. It was made as part of a filmmaking class. The film illustrates a welder, his philosophy on his job, and his relationship with his late father. Through this project, I learned how to convey someone's life story in a few minutes through interviewing and editing.

This was the first film I ever made. It was done as part of a filmmaking class. It explores an absurd hostility between standoffish roommates. This production gave me my initial introduction to all aspects of filmmaking, from working with actors and scheduling to reshooting and editing.
